It was an honour to present my latest research at the Australian Academy of Science's speaker series #SuprisingScience in June. I spoke about surprising science connections between marine biology and the geosciences and how we can use these connections to develop new technology that will enable us to monitor a greater spectrum of marine life. Specifically, I showed the initial stages of our chemical-based “GPS” technology, that has the potential to geolocate numerous marine species globally and collect data on their life history, provenance and movement.
